anyone caught any cats yet this year? i tried while i was at blunks yesterday with some cut sucker no luck tho.

Caught some on Long Creek, but not the James.

i think im gona hit the shoal again this weekend specificaly for cats.

I would try fishing on the downstream side of the shoals. Possibly on the bluff side up against that mud bank midway thru the corner. Or the bluff side at the end of the corner around the big rock and tree that's in the water. And get better bait than cutup sucker.

iv got some stuff i made from a guy on youtube its cut up chicken soaked in anchovie and liver juice it seems to work well back home in creeks leaves a good scent trail and i have variouse dough baits

For pan size channels you can't get much better bait then them 3-4 inch sucker minnows netted out of the river.

i have managed to loose my net somehow so till i can buy a new one ill be stuck with preped baits sadly were going out monday and camping along the river somewhere and floating out tuesday so im gona try everything iv got haha

If you can find shad entrails they are very good too. I don't know any stores that sell them anymore though.

Thats why you need a throw net.. theres tons of shad up around blunks right now spawning
