Members Shad Ball Buster Posted April 13, 2015 Members Posted April 13, 2015 Up at Taylor shoals last night and couldn't see them in the water like earlier this week which was thick. So was wondering if anyone knows if they kept moving up or just back into the deep water to hide from the chaos of all the people and boats Saturday. I did alright once everyone was gone finally gave up at about 2 am
Roger Craig Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 Parked yesterday and took Teddy down the left side lookin for the fabled Taylor Shoals. Walked down till no more trucks could go and path narrowed into trees. Dog looked like he wanted water so I turned back and got to the cpl places he could get to and drink, and headed back to ramp, lots of folks around. I think I should have kepted on walking through trees? Headed back towards ramp and fished a spot where a cpl trees made enough room to fish the bank drop dunno, 1/2 mile down or so, caught one nice 14" on fourth cast and nothing after. Walked right, over dam and caught a cpl dinks, called it good about 7. Met a nice family with a cpl girls that just wanted to play with dog lol. Man I suck, I should be catching more fish lol. We did have a good walk so all was good there. Got to meet Don out there, made it a point to come and say hello, said he saw dog on forums, so that really made the day, to bad I was sick and wore out, should have hung out. Thinking of trying Forsyth/Kissee Mills for a change tomorrow.
Members Shad Ball Buster Posted April 13, 2015 Author Members Posted April 13, 2015 Yea its close to a mile from the ramp to the shoals 4x4's can make it. I'm on my way with the 4 wheeler now its much faster and easier then driving my truck to shoals hopefully I can get into them!
Fishslayer88 Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 There's a few on up but I think they are winding down now most of the fish I have caught are spawned out.
vonreed Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 Every fish I've caught in the last week has been spawned out. But I've defintely had no problems catching them. I just hate cleaning so many so I have started throwing back the bigger ones.
Fishslayer88 Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 I cleaned 15 last night and only 3 had eggs in them.
crappie_adams83 Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 I was there today and caught 5 and all big males over 13 inches either biggest bring close to 17 and yes the shoal is like a good mile long hike but I'm with you slayer I've started throwing back anything that's under 13 and I saw you out there today buster I was the guy pulling the cooler with three rods next time I'll stop and chat a little if the bite is slow if every body had a pole and a fish on the line there would never be a war
Members Jordan Craig Posted April 14, 2015 Members Posted April 14, 2015 Has the water come up any in the last couple days?

How can you tell if its spawned out, or difference between male and female if there are no eggs? I've caught between 40 and 50 fish this season and only like 5 have had eggs, so I just assumed the rest were males. I was looking at pics from last year and my best trips were the last week of April, hopefully that holds true I just need the water to drop about a foot so I can wade across!
