ozark trout fisher Posted May 6, 2015 Posted May 6, 2015 Dang. I can't make it down there for a couple weeks yet and you are not helping me become more patient. Weren't we writing that river a eulogy a couple weeks ago? Fishermen are weird.
awhuber Posted May 6, 2015 Posted May 6, 2015 MDC did their annual brown stocking, yesterday. Same size and numbers as last year. The water is low but fished real well yesterday.
Nortrad Posted May 6, 2015 Posted May 6, 2015 Nice olive color scheme on the D&D. Had a nice brown charge a white/grey/silver combo last Sunday, He just butted the streamer and left. Had another flash the same pattern thru a riffle. That was it for the streamer action. Landed some decent 'bows and browns on various nymphs. Decent day. Glad some rain is coming.

Nice slabs, fellas. http://www.youtube.com/user/BruteFish83/videos
ozark trout fisher Posted May 8, 2015 Posted May 8, 2015 I don't know about a eulogy, but definitely a great discussion about stream ecology and trout. Nice slabs, fellas. I enjoyed that conversation too. You will admit that fisherman tend to overblow things every once in awhile, and I was poking fun at that. One time I posted a fishing report basically stating that an entire (long) stretch of the Current was no good and it was because it needed to be managed differently. Based on one mediocre trip. And I did well the next time and promptly forgot about it. It's how (many of us) are wired. So I'm not singling you out if that's what it sounded like.

In addition to overblowing things, I think we also tend to get overindulged. You must too admit though, that there's nothing wrong with wanting to make a great thing better. http://www.youtube.com/user/BruteFish83/videos
flyfishmaster Posted May 8, 2015 Posted May 8, 2015 Your thoughts. After talking to people that have fished the Current for 30+ years, what anglers have posted on here thought out the years and my experience. If I have to use just one (major) color for a big streamer to fish on the Current, it would be a Dark Olive. What do you all think? Later, FFM Woo Hoo Fish On!!
Al Agnew Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 Mine would be the one I tie that has alternating bands of dark brown and light yellowish olive. The color pattern imitates sculpins, darters, baby hogsuckers, and golden crayfish.
ozark trout fisher Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 You must too admit though, that there's nothing wrong with wanting to make a great thing better. Most certainly not. If anything, we just have slightly different views of how that happens .
brittsnbirds Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 Ok, so I'm impressed. When you guys are talking Current what part are you referring to? Going to hit Montauk next week and love stripping Cracklebacks and Wooly's make me happy happy happy.
