sandbc Posted May 3, 2015 Posted May 3, 2015 my buddy and I put in at 7am saturday morning. been having starting problems with my boat lately. can get it to start at home but when i get to the lake I have no fire. I think I have finally isolated the problem to a bad connecting wire somewhere close to the ignition switch. Of course this morning was no exception. so we just trolled around the ramp cove and parked over a brush pile. 3 hours later we had 11 keeper crappie in the wells. boat still wont start so started checking wires and got it to fire. went on fishing several other spots and could not buy a bite. went towards highpoint area to try to find dingyer water and did but no luck. by now its 4 pm so decided to go back to starting place before going home. 3 more keepers including 2 13 inchers. the bite was very slow all day and very very lite. we only caught 3 shorts the whole day. all fish were caught on minnows and niblets. threw every color of jigs in the box but could not get a bite. water clarity was 6 to 8 foot. temps from 59 near cedar ridge to 67 around high point. 13 of the 14 fish were females full of eggs and 1 male. brush pile was in 22 fow and fish were caught at 12 to 14 foot deep. located tons wf fish in the 20 ish fow but couldnt make em bite. the moral of the story.....you can lead your minnow to fish but you cant make em bite. good luck everyone. crappie-hunter and Hammer time 2
slab slinger Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 Boat trouble sucks. Been there and i know how it is. At least you made something out of a bad thing. Commend you for staying and trying to still enjoy yourself. Good report and i hope you get limits next time.
Aggressor1988long Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 I noticed the crappie eggs are still orange I did same thing yesterday in shiners caught females in 15feet of water. Either the are getting ready to move up or they are going to spawn deep only time will tell,I will not be back out till Friday.
