Members Watcher Posted February 3, 2007 Members Posted February 3, 2007 I think I will go to Wal-Mart and buy some trout, take them home and throw them in the bathtub, turn the Air condition on high set a chair by the tub and fish. All the Joys of Trout opening and a lot less expense and aggravation.
Terry Beeson Posted February 3, 2007 Posted February 3, 2007 Nobody goes on opening day... it's too crowded!! Members fireman Posted February 8, 2007 Members Posted February 8, 2007 I will be down there in site 213 its the double site. Fireman
mcp633 Posted February 8, 2007 Posted February 8, 2007 I didn't pull the trigger fast enough on a campsite and will have to wait until the weekend of the 16th . At least taking the wife along anyway. I can sleep in my car ! I'm definitely itching to go. If you don't stand behind our troops, please feel free to stand in front of them
polock Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 i don't see how it isn't just one big tangle.. way too crowded to even enjoy fishing
mcp633 Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 It's pretty stupid if you ask me. Standing shoulder to shoulder. I don't see how it would be enjoyable at all. Even on a normal weekend down there, there will be people lined up like that in the quarry hole an hour before the whistle! Myself, I'd rather sleep for the extra hour and wait 25 minutes after the whistle to even go. By then, most of the starving whistle fish are on stringers, and breakfast for the whistle fishermen is on the fire. I've actually stood there and watched massive tangles involving up to four anglers at the same time. Everyone ends up having to break off and re-tie. I've seen two people actually fight because they somehow they both got the same fish hooked in the mouth and both wanted the darn thing. It's not worth it to me. I look for relaxation when I go fishing, not fistfights and aggrivation! If you don't stand behind our troops, please feel free to stand in front of them
Members STL FLY Posted February 28, 2007 Members Posted February 28, 2007 I agree, it's going to be so very crowded that all your normal fishing spots will be packed 4 deep, where are you even going to cast, throw in some guy casting spinners, you're definitely going to tangle. Sunday however may still be ok; just don't get there too early, I'd say after 10 AM people will begin to thin out.. That's what I'm hoping anyway...
