nxs Posted June 30, 2015 Posted June 30, 2015 Hadn't been for a while and needed to get out. First 2 places we went to all ready had a boat sitting on the brushpile next one was empty and the crappie were sitting right down on the top of the pile. Naturally my wireless trolling motor crapped out about 5 minutes after we got there. Tried putting the anchor out but with the wind didn't work too well. Ralph caught 4 crappie pretty quick then was hung up a couple of times and I figure they moved to another brush pile in the area. Never did find them again but we got on a bunch of drum in the afternoon so after Ralph pulled the 4th one in we decided to give it up. Now I've got to find a new trolling motor. The one I've got is a wireless Motor Guide. An old one I bought used to see how they worked. I've had 2 hip repl. and this type of motor sure makes my day an easier one. I'd like to stay with the wireless and not the cable type. So are there any good wireless units out there that you don't have to hock the north 80 to buy?? If anyone can give me a heads up I'd appreciate it. Thanks Gary
Members Wilson3144 Posted June 30, 2015 Members Posted June 30, 2015 Taking my wife night fishing tonight. Normally go to mutton creek but hearing good crappie reports on cedar ridge. Is the water up 5 feet still and what depth were the piles, if you don't mind me asking? Wish I could give you some information on trolling motors but have always used the old 46 pound trust motor guide. I can't get approval from the boss(wife) for the nice wireless ones yet.
nxs Posted July 1, 2015 Author Posted July 1, 2015 It's still up. Brush piles were in 23' of water and they were laying right on the top. Either minnows or jigs tipped with a minnow. We were over by Masters Campground. Wilson it's that way here too, wife is not happy about the price of a new trolling motor. Aggressor1988long 1
