Aggressor1988long Posted July 12, 2015 Posted July 12, 2015 This lake has alot of 8-9 inch crappie an occasional 10-12 crappie. But the 8-9 inch crappie are really thick. This tells me the lake is loaded with crappie. I believe the big crappie stay deep I Will be focusing on that next weekend. This lake does contain quality fish but since there is no cover its a different ball game fishing.
Members crappiekayaker Posted July 12, 2015 Members Posted July 12, 2015 In the winter, for every 10 to 12 incher I catch, I have to sift through alot of 6 to 8 inchers. Im not a fan of keeping the little ones (not enough meat). That being said, im not a fan of keeping the 13.5+ either. I figure, if I throw it back some kid might catch it. Im glad some nice fish are being caught. Good work. Aggressor1988long 1
Members TheBeardedTay Posted July 14, 2015 Members Posted July 14, 2015 Most of the established cover had washed away unfortunately, but new cover jammed up should start holding bass soon. Took the yak out for a few steamy hours Sunday. Had a couple of decent nibbles up the river portion near the Nature Center boardwalk bridge. Caught a whopper of a bluegill (hahaha) on a white chatter, but no dice on keepers. Sweat my butt off literally, but a great day to be out. There are plenty of fish there, you're right Aggressor. The water is clearing up and I was able to spot a few big ones roaming around in some shallow water. Just gotta find where they're hiding after that flood! "Fishing is much more than fish.
