polock Posted February 6, 2007 Posted February 6, 2007 just glanced at the dang weather for tue wed thur of next week when i am coming over and saw the wonderful white stuff on prediction. guess the bass will have to put their snow faces on.
tippet7 Posted February 6, 2007 Posted February 6, 2007 according to my girlfriends father, we are supposed to have a storm that makes the one that hit springfield a couple of weeks ago, look like a light dusting. he has not only stocked up on food at the house, but since he a big wig at a major food company in the area, he is advising all his clients to stock up as well. he had me over to his house last weekend and we chopped so much firewood i thought my arm was going to fall off. You are so stupid you threw a rock at the ground and missed.
Terry Beeson Posted February 6, 2007 Posted February 6, 2007 he had me over to his house last weekend and we chopped so much firewood i thought my arm was going to fall off. As one who has raised two girls and has another one in the process, I'll let you in on a little secret... He killed two birds with one stone... He got firewood for the winter and got you too tired to do any "hanky panky" with his little girl.... (Just kiddin'... maybe... ) As for the winter storm and preparation... I don't think we're going to get hit with anything too big this week, but there is always a possibility. You should ALWAYS be prepared to some degree. Flashlights, batteries, canned food, alternate cooking, heat, and other preparation. Just like you are going camping out in the middle of the wilderness in February... It really surprised me how UN-prepared most people were for the ice storm... (city folks... sheesh...) MrsDucky Posted February 6, 2007 Posted February 6, 2007 According to the Farmer's Almanac, we ain't seen nothin' yet! It predicted a snow storm for Feb. 4th, and only missed it by a couple of days. And yes, I believe it has another major one coming up, but I thought it was later in the month, like the 22nd. Personally, with the weather around here, I'll believe it when I see it, no matter WHO says it's going to do something. I agree, Terry, except the city people part. John works at a gas station/convenience store, and he was hit by just as many farmers whining that they didn't have enough diesel/bread/milk/beer as city folks. Most of the city folks stayed home...too cold for them! :lol I can bring home the trout...fry it up in a pan...and never let you forget I caught it! 'Cause I'm a woman!

I installed one of the ventless heaters @ 4 years ago and it requires no electricity to keep us toasty. It was less than $200 bucks when Harbor Freight had a summer sale and simple to install. If I had no back-up heating source I'd get one of them and keep several propane tanks for the grille topped up at all times. I suspect that would be less expensive than a plumbing bill for busted pipes. If you're already on gas but can't run the central heat because of lack of power you don't even need the portable tanks. Just makes sense to me. And for the hanky panky..Its been so long I have almost forgot what that is. I was sick with the flu while we were cutting the wood though and it just made me sicker. So I guess your theory may have actually worked since she slept in the other room for 3 nights because she didnt want to catch my cooties. Worked out good for me too....I got to watch the history channel in bed instead of Lifetime You are so stupid you threw a rock at the ground and missed.
