PigSooner Posted July 20, 2015 Posted July 20, 2015 Floated Marbel to Marshall Ford- water was as low as I would ever want to float that stretch. Had to drag a few spots, also banged a few rocks along the way. Could really have used some more current, as it was non existent through many of the holes. We knew the float was more than we wanted to fish in one day, so we anticipated some paddling but the lack of current really sucked! We fished the first third pretty hard, caught lots of smallmouth- nothing larger than 13-14". Work started when we started covering some water for the remaining miles! Scenery is awesome, some great bluffs that you float up to, and under in some spots. Lots of fish. River can get tricky with all the trees in the water so some care is needed. Will definitely do again- but make it a two day float. Also waded around Rockhouse Sunday, and saw a lot of nice fish, caught a few. Lots more water- a lot clearer. Gave up when all the floaters started coming by. Would like to hit this area again during the week when there is les traffic and the fish aren't as spooked.
