Members dustin.hutchison91 Posted August 16, 2015 Members Posted August 16, 2015 hello all I was curiouse my cousin has invited me to venture south and float and fish the buffalo. So my question what species of fish are there to target in the yellville area I probably spelt that wrong haha
Al Agnew Posted August 16, 2015 Posted August 16, 2015 Smallmouth bass, rock bass, sunfish for the most part. A much smaller population of largemouth bass, a decent but not great population of channel catfish and some flatheads. Carp, suckers, gar, maybe a few walleye but don't expect to catch any. It's a typical clear water, warm water stream fishery...no trout.
Members dustin.hutchison91 Posted August 16, 2015 Author Members Posted August 16, 2015 What is the goto bait down there here it's the Ned rig or small crank baits
Al Agnew Posted August 17, 2015 Posted August 17, 2015 Well, according to the Ned Rig guys around here, the Ned will fill your boat anytime. Personally, I'll be fishing walk the dog topwaters, buzzbaits, and spinnerbaits about 90% of the time during the warm weather seasons on rivers like the Buffalo. But if you like the Ned and the small crank baits, I'm sure they'll work.
Members Chef of the Sea Posted August 17, 2015 Members Posted August 17, 2015 I've never been that far down, but I love the top water action from my kayak. I throw a spider or hopper, but as said earlier I've seen the buzz bait get a lot of action, and less hook ups with small fish. No matter what you use, you'll have a great time on the buffalo
