Members verbs72 Posted February 9, 2007 Members Posted February 9, 2007 Good afternoon all! I'm a new member to the site, so i wanted to introduce myself to the LOZ fourm, so HI im verbs! I live in Indianapolis via Cincinnati but go to the lake at least once month through out the spring, summer and fall. The winter sure looks like it has taken a toll on the lake, did everyone here fair ok? I love to fish, especially for bass, and I'm looking foward to sharing and gathering stories over the next several months. Big tournment coming up in April, http://www.midwestfishtournaments.com/BigBassBashApril.htm, sounded pretty fun, will be my first bass event ever!. My fishing partner and I are already entered and ready to go. Can anyone tell is the water temp and height is? Hope everyone is doing well and ready for the weather to break!!! Until next time, take care! PS: I have no affiliation for midwest fish tournaments, just figured I'd throw it out there for anyone that would be interested!
Members jcmojo Posted February 11, 2007 Members Posted February 11, 2007 verbs72, Not much going on, or at least not many reports of fish being caught. I'm sure some are fishing, and maybe catching, but it has been pretty darn cold for several weeks and that has thinned out the fishing troops. I did hear one report of a fella catching nice crappie on wind blown points. The water temp has dropped to 34 and water level is at 656.9. About 3 feet low. There was a lot of severe dock damage to many of the older marina and condo docks from the December snow. Some individual docks were also damaged. If you are out cruising on the lake you don't have to look very hard to find some damage. By the time you get here in April it should look a lot different. It won't be completely back to normal, but a lot of folks depend on the Lake for their living, so they're working hard at it. Below is a link that you can go to get the latest temp and water level. http://www.livelakeozarks.com/ jcmojo

CMAC Posted February 12, 2007 Posted February 12, 2007 WELCOME!!!! Fishing is good here according to the reports I have been hearing. This weekend should nice warmer temps with sun shine and wind. Should have been a good bite.
Members verbs72 Posted February 15, 2007 Author Members Posted February 15, 2007 Thanks all! Looking forward to winter releasing us from her grips! We just got dumped on, 14" of snow in Indy, and more coming on Friday. But if one good thing can come of it...the travel, sport and boat show has arrived from St. Louis, so I won't get rid of the fishing itch but should curb it a bit. Nice to hear that the re-building has begun, not many lake "weekend" folk understand just how hard the December storm hurt. But as hard as the folks are working down there, they may never know! Thanks for the lake update...seems like it's still very low or is that normal for this time of year? I know it was very low in October when I was at the lake last, but I figured with melt off and this past storm, it may start to rise. The weather pattern seems to be changing a bit, so the water and air temp should start increasing in the next couple weeks. Lucky dogs...it's going to be weeks before I can see ground again here! Good Luck to those are braving the cold and getting a line wet, and to you hibernators like me...just a few more weeks!! Later All... verbs
