Members Mamoo Posted September 8, 2015 Members Posted September 8, 2015 the goal was bass and I found a few in ventris. Main lake points early and after moving back in the cove I found my biggest at about 2lbs about mid way back. Drop shot was the technique that caught 8 or so in 30 fow average. A few in 40 fow. A lot of huge bait balls as well and plenty of pesky perch. A person could load up the cooler with crickets. I may have to take my kids soon. They were everywhere. Not a lot of size to what I caught but was still fun. Eventually moved into pc and zerod there. Sun came out and I was gone!
J-Doc Posted September 8, 2015 Posted September 8, 2015 40ft?? I assume the fish were suspended around 20? Mind if I ask if the fish were directly below you or were you casting out and retrieving your dropshot? Seems like I can only get them to bite on dropshot if it's away from the boat and not below the boat. I swear I have a banana in the boat somewhere giving off bad juju vibes or something. Need marine repair? Send our own forum friend "fishinwrench" a message. He will treat you like family!!! I owe fishinwrench a lot of thanks. He has been a great mechanic with lots of patience!
Members Mamoo Posted September 8, 2015 Author Members Posted September 8, 2015 The hook was about 12-15" off the bottom so I guess I caught them technically at about 39'. Located them on my sonar and saw they were active and dropped vertically. Caught most vertically and a few by casting. I was sitting in 30-40' trolling the bank and casting and when I would see a group under me I would just open the bale vertically. Bite would come with in about a 5 count and a few hit it on the fall. The fish were active and moving. If I passed over them on sonar and backed up they were gone. It didn't last long, but I've also caught them in 40' up at rocky branch in cedar trees before.
