John Berry Posted February 12, 2007 Posted February 12, 2007 I took a client over to the Spring on Friday. He wanted to learn how to wade fish. He had been out with guides before but they had floated and he did not enjoy it. We went to Dam three and worked our way down stream. The further we went down stream the bigger the fish got. He ended up with thirty six fish. The hot flies were Y2Ks, Red San Juan Worms, and Brown Woolly Buggers. Terry Beeson Posted February 12, 2007 Posted February 12, 2007 Ah, yes... the good ol' Spring. I can't wait to get down there and re-catch the 36 you turned back... Sounds like a good trip! Bet he'll be back for more lessons... John Berry Posted February 12, 2007 Author Posted February 12, 2007 I learned to fly fish on the Spring more years ago than I want to admit. I met my lovely wife, Lori, on the Spring. It has always been a special place for me and it is my ace in the hole. If they are running a lot of water everywhere and my client wants to wade this is where we go. Except during the aluminum hatch! John Berry OAF CONTRIBUTOR Fly Fishing For Trout (870)435-2169 http://www.berrybrothersguides.com berrybrothers@infodash.com
Terry Beeson Posted February 12, 2007 Posted February 12, 2007 Yep, John... can't tell you how many times I've left Jonesboro, got to Hardy, called the "dam" number, and headed right on up 63 due to the generation at BSD and Norfork... Of course, meeting my lovely bride who lived in Mammoth Spring at the time was a bonus for sure. Somethin' in the water up there... As for the canoe hatch, I just fish around it... But it is a hassle for sure...
