Hi,

New guy here hoping for some boat performance wisdom; I'm wondering if anyone is running a Blazer 1652 flat jon, 80 ga. with a 40/30 2-stroke? I picked one up a few weeks back with an older 40/30 Evinrude console steer. I'm having several engine parts along with the liner & impeller replaced to get it back to par. It was running too small a TM, a 40# 12V, I have now moved up to a 70# Minn Kota & hoping to relocate TM batteries just under front deck. If anyone is running a similar rig, I'd sure appreciate hearing from you on your performance observations; top speed, planing time, static draft and any other tips you may share.

Thanks to all,

I run a 1752 blazer with a 60/40 4-stroke merc and a 24v TM.  I have a 12" extension on the front deck that the TM batteries are tucked under.  Between the batteries and the TM I've got too much weight in the bow.  I had a 12v TM setup the same way weight distribution was much better, maybe even a tad light up front.

Might post over in the jet section of tinboats.net as well.

Mine is a 1652 Blazer with 40/30 ETec.  Two trolling motor batteries under the extended front deck.  Tiller steer.  I have no idea how fast it goes, and don't care, it goes fast enough for me.  It's well balanced, runs plenty shallow, gets on plane quickly with up to three people in it.  Maybe with console farther forward, rather than tiller steering, it would be a little heavy in the front, don't know for sure.  But I'm VERY happy with mine the way it is.

Guys, I appreciate your performance observations; My 1652 is down at CRM having the TM wiring moved to the front and a larger hatch cut in for the  two Group 29 batteries. My best guess is weight distribution should be fairly equalized but then again, I'll see when I get it back on the river. I'm running an older 2 cyl. Evinrude 40 long shaft with a jet foot add- on, mounted to a extended transom; it has a Panther 55 Trim & Tilt unit that gives it some set back. I'll be adding a GPS when she comes home so I'll get a handle on it's speed. The acid test will be a few (bumpy) places on the river that will let me gauge if she's running flat and shallow. I can't wait to get her back for some late fall -early winter fishing; hope to see you both out there.

Thanks,
