I was hoping one of the guys who frequent the area around Mammoth Springs would have an idea how the river looks. I may try to get away for a bit on Sunday if its not still messed up. I drove past it on Tuesday on my way to Southern MO and it was a muddy mess all the way to the warm fork. I am hopeful that it has cleared up some.

RR,

Dano & I fished it this afternoon. The spring itself is still putting out milky water but the Warm Fork is starting to clear. So it's milky but fishable now. The big spawners are mostly returning 'home' and are no longer concentrated but there's still plenty of 'fun' fish in the 12"-14" range and better. I specialized in losing the better fish that struck today in one way or the other including bad knots, broken off on strike and just longline release. I 'mighta' caught a 15" fish today for my best one but rolled & lost fish estimated at 16" & 18". Dano had a 'good'un' on for quite a while that we never even got to see. It finally wrapped him around a rock and his tippet parted near the leader. Later we both witnessed a really nice fish, maybe in the 3-4# range porpoise over his leader on a drift.

We ended up going on Sunday and didn't do nearly as well as y'all did. We fished at Bayou Access and caught 5 unimpressive fish between us on Y2K's. There was a big crowd and the powerbait anglers were catching a lot of fish. I just about lost my balance a couple of times in the swift water. I've always done better there in lower & clearer water, besides, I don't think my mending skills are good enought yet for some of the deeper, swift water there. Next time I go I think I'll go to Dam 3 where I've had more success in the past.

Murky / Cloudy water, 60 degrees, galeish winds, but the fishing was supurb. Here are a couple of photo's from yesterdays fishing below Dam 1.

I caught rainbows on the blood red midge (from the first OAF swap). Seems they wanted anything with red in it. We even caught a couple bream. It was a great day to be on the Spring. Dano

Here is Cripple Caddis hooked with a nice rainbow at one of the outlets.

Hey Beeson....I forgot to add that I found all of your little chub / shinner's and other sundry small creek critters yesterday on that trip to the Spring. They love the blood midge.

Dano,

Well, just how are ol' Mo, Larry, Curly, Shemp, Joe, Billy Bob, John Boy, Jim bob, Mary Ellen, Sue Ellen, JR, John, Paul, George, Ringo, Elvis, Rhett, Scarlett, and the rest of the gang doin'? You didn't KNOW I had all those chubs named, did you?

Hey, OF... I may be down this Saturday afternoon if all goes according to plan. I hope to make a trip to Dam 3 for a couple of hours anyway while Cindy visits the future grandbaby...

You have my eddress---verify just before leaving home & I'll meet you.

Griff & I persecuted the fish today. He was in charge of the trout and I specialized in Chubs, Shiners, Suckers, Sunfish and Pickeral. But I did catch my personal best Shiner today. :(
