Zach Bearden Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 Hey Everyone! Ive been looking for a CDC midge on the site but I cant find one... Im looking for a pattern for a tying contest. I need any kind subsurface, dry fly, I would really like an emerging midge because Ive been Facinated with those... Thanks everyone. "Its clearly Bree time baby!" Randall Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 if you want to get creative, you might try a wd-40 with a loop wing of cdc... never seen that before, but i'm about to get off here and on the vise to see how that looks. Cute animals taste better.
Danoinark Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 Zach I had this in my fly tying archives, although I have never tried any of them. The caddis cdc looks like it would be a winner. Dano Click Glass Has Class "from the laid back lane in the Arkansas Ozarks"
Jeremy Hunt Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 Try a brooks midge with cdc or a halo midge with cdc for the post. Those would look awesome I think. And nobody ever ties these for fly swap etc. I think you probably would win. Also everybody always respects a good looking Oliver Edwards Hydropsyche Larva pattern. Here's a pic of one I tied about three years ago when I started learning this pattern. Accept the drift.....<>>><flysandguides.comVisit my blog
Randall Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 jeremy, do you have any pics posted of those other two you listed? Cute animals taste better.
Jeremy Hunt Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 Here's a picture of a brook's midge Halo midge is a secret. Next time when you come into town I'll show you one. Accept the drift.....<>>><flysandguides.comVisit my blog
Randall Posted February 17, 2007 Posted February 17, 2007 i kinda like that... i'm gonna go make some. it'll probly be this summer before i make it back down... unless me and a buddy decide to cut class one day... Cute animals taste better.
Zach Bearden Posted February 17, 2007 Author Posted February 17, 2007 Thanks guy if you would please list a list of materials and all that what colors and whatnot thank you for all the positive feedback. Randall Posted February 18, 2007 Posted February 18, 2007 the wd-40 may be on here already, i didn't take a picture of the cdc ones i tied today, and it won't happen tonight. maybe when i finish clearing more #*%&ing snow tomorrow at work i'll get you a pic. gray works best for me, followed by black... haven't tried anything other than that. a cdc loop wing looks vicious... i can't wait to try it out... poor dumb fish, they won't know what hit em. Cute animals taste better.
Kayser Posted February 18, 2007 Posted February 18, 2007 i really like the looks of that suspended cdc midge pupa. maybe add a little hen cape soft hacke for legs in front of the dubbing. Rob WARNING!! Comments to be interpreted at own risk. Time spent fishing is never wasted.
