We use Berkley Crappie Nibblets a lot. They are about pea size and pretty soft. We put them on our jigs and they have a great scent and leave a trail as the bait dissolves. They have made the difference between a good day and a bad day more than once. But its hard to get the to stay on your hook cause they are soft and small.

Heres the trick to getting them to stay on your hook----Take the lid off the jar for a couple days. This will dry them out and make them harder. They still leave that little trail with about the same amount of scent. Anyone else use these? Whats your trick?

Are you guys using these niblets for trout fishing?

I've used them successfully for crappie, but never thought about trout.

Canoe, jug of water, fishin buddy, & couple of fishin poles and I'm good!

Add one more thing to the crappie nibbles and that is the bright red hooks. I have found when the bite is slow and scattered the red hook and the nibbles help lots. I usually put one red and one white on the tip of the hook with a minnow. I never thought of drying them but sounds like a good idea. Where do you fish crappie. I usually make one trip to LOZ in the fall and a couple to Mark Twain in the spring. If you hit is right you can clean up if you don't you just spend a day on the lake. The outlook for Mark Twain this spring is larger fish and more in the keeper category but due to several years of bad spawn fewer fish overall.

Another option that has become a big hit in Louisiana amoung the crappie fishermen is the Bait Pump Soft Bait Injection System: http://www.thebaitpump.com/

It was designed by a Louisiana crappie fisherman who expressed the same complaints expressed above. There has been a lot of discussion about The Bait Pump for the past two years on the Louisiana Crappie Forum:

i also found the last couple years when using power bait.. i usually use white and Char. and even add a power worm .. caught some really good fighters drifting that the last 2 years
