Members back cast 6 Posted February 21, 2007 Members Posted February 21, 2007 Yes you read correctly, another new guy. I came across this site while I was looking for information about the lower Illinois. Im sure I can ask around on this forum and find out the information I need to have successful outings. I guess I can mention a little bit more about me. Im 23 and have been fly fishing (when I get a chance) for about 7 or so years. Its true, once you catch a fish on a flyrod...there really isnt anything like it. Im still far from an expert and Im still learning a lot. Aside from going to college, I have been working full time so Its hard to get out fishing. Im from southeast Oklahoma originally, but I moved to Arkansas to teach. I currently reside in Fayetteville. Ive been meaning to check out the White River in Ark, and try my luck over there because from what I hear its one of the best places to trout fish. Anyway, I look forward to getting input and reports from everyone on the forum and hope to contribute what little information I know to anyone that wants to hear it! Yup, hooked another tree on my back cast!
Terry Beeson Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 Welcome to the forum, BC... You'll find the White River system tailwaters as a whole offer some great trout fishing. Being in Fayetteville, you are not far from the Beaver tailwaters and I'll let our good friend from "down under" give you more details on that stretch. A bit farther and you can be on Lake Taneycomo and there are a bunch of nutz... I mean great guys... on here who can offer a lot of advice on fishing it. Hopefully we'll see you on that stetch soon! And you're right... once you catch a fish on a fly rod, there ain't no turnin' back... at least not for me. Do you tie? If so or even if not... Check out the Sowbug Roundup in Mt Home, AR March 15-17. There will be several of us down there at one point or another... Members back cast 6 Posted February 28, 2007 Author Members Posted February 28, 2007 Im needing to get some info about the White River. I really want to check it out and fish it, but since im not really familiar with this area yet (Ive only lived here since August and havent had time to drive around) Im needing some advice about good places to go that are wadable and easily accessable that offer good fishing. Any advice would be most helpful! Thanks! Yup, hooked another tree on my back cast!
Danoinark Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 Someone new to the White River should check out the Cotter Access at Cotter Arkansas. Its easy to get to, easy to wade and gives you a good feel of what fishing the White is all about. That would be my first choice if it were me. Of course the ultimate trip would be to hire one of the very competent guides to give you a day on the river. Alot of them frequent the board here.
