M_Taylor Posted March 14, 2016 Posted March 14, 2016 Hello gang, looking for advice on an after market charging system for 24v setup. It's for a center console that the original finally gave out on. It needs to be shockproof and waterproof as it will see time on the salt. This is for a guy who isn't overly maintenance oriented, so I simple system that keeps batteries in good shape without too much involvement would be best. Top of price point is around $250 if possible. I appreciate any direction in what to look for.
jolicious Posted March 14, 2016 Posted March 14, 2016 I have a 4 bank charger, but Minn Kota makes a 3 bank one as well: www.minnkotamotors.com/Products/MK-330D/ I've had really good luck with mine. I know you said $250 price point, and the site shows this one above that - but maybe Basspro or someone will run a sale
PigSooner Posted March 14, 2016 Posted March 14, 2016 I saw a few in Cabela's bargain den- might be worth a look.
M_Taylor Posted March 15, 2016 Author Posted March 15, 2016 Thanks for the input guys. And feel free to chime in if you haven't yet. I'm leaning towards the Minn Kota system. I like how it regulates based off of temperature, as well as saying that it is corrosion and shock proof. Follow up question would be, the 5 amp is less expensive but is it worth the savings to go with 5 vs. 10? Other than charge faster, is there any other benefits?
Blll Posted March 15, 2016 Posted March 15, 2016 M, if you can charge overnight for a good 8 hours, then save the $$ and go with 5 amp/bank. If you need to get from dead to go faster, then 10 amp is worth the extra cost. If you're pretty handy, look into the stealth system. great system but I don't know of a dealer who will install. Owner will talk you through install but its on you. Great system. Very little overnight charging needed in many cases.
Members showmebass Posted March 15, 2016 Members Posted March 15, 2016 I've had a Noco Genius 3 bank 30 amp charger (link below) for about 4 years now and it does a great job. Currently $240 on Amazon. http://www.amazon.com/NOCO-GEN3-Waterproof-Battery-Charger/dp/B003JSO1X2/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1458007899&sr=8-8&keywords=noco+genius
M_Taylor Posted March 23, 2016 Author Posted March 23, 2016 Thanks guys, I appreciate the input. Went ahead wth the Minn Kota and the 10amp. Found it on Amazon for $250. Now to install and test it.

And mounting it on the floor like the factory one is not an option. Salt water ate it up.
Members steadyt Posted March 24, 2016 Members Posted March 24, 2016 I have the Minn Kota MK 330D. I have had no problems with it. M_Taylor 1
