Definitely just a bunch of pros making it look easy or something. I've caught bigger bass in Table Rock...all things considered. But yes, would hate to have all the boat traffic move on down to Beaver. There's enough boats as it is. Too many internet scouts these days.
chi0082 Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 I think Saturday was just a great day to fish. I was just reading another post on the LOZ forum, and there was a tournament held same day this Everett tourney was held and nearly everyone was catching fish at that tournament too. Can you believe that if you had an 18.5 lb bag you did not get a check that day? A lot of people had a 5 bass limit as well. Hmm....so what's this about tough fishing after a cold front?

I think good fishing on the first day of a cold front is one of the 7 signs of the Apocalypse somewhere around oil under $40 a barrel. Any way I don't believe in that stuff I am sure the Russians had something to do with this...... Blll, marcus and Lance34 3

For a one day event, on Beaver Lake. Incredible. wow thats impressive Blll 1
Blll Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 Maybe a few years of higher water is showing results in the bass population. I hope they are mostly done spawning before the FLW arrives. If I could only find the crappies.
Mike jones Posted March 22, 2016 Author Posted March 22, 2016 It wasn't just last Saturday...look at the results from the February 27 Everett tourney. Pretty much the same weights. We had a club tourney 2 weeks ago with less than 30 boats and it took 21 1/2 to win it...and 17 pounds or so didn't get a check!!! Most of the lake will be too dirty for the FLW guys to sight fish(I hope, speaking from a guy fishing the co-angler side of it). But there will be plenty of fish still doing the deal...and they will catch the fire out of them!!

The high water last summer kept a lot of boats off, less jugs and trout lines and yo yos just all around less pressure. We won't see the increase in the number of bass for some time, but we are seeing the increase in size. Every time I pull up a spot I catch myself saying that looks like a Table Rock fish. Just MHO but I think it is the increase in the forage base that has helped so much but also could be removing some of those little spots also, which in turn leaves more food for bigger fish to get bigger. But I don't think the FLW will come up with the size of sacks you see in the local tournaments, most of those guys just never figure this lake out. Here is hoping you draw two good ones !! Mike jones Posted March 22, 2016 Author Posted March 22, 2016 I will have the pleasure of fishing with a couple good ones in practice at least...Matt Arey(2014 and 2015 champion) and Mike Surman(2015 top 10). I really do think that there will be several guys that will have good bags every day...these guys come here the same time, every year. And this year, like you said, all the bass are fat and healthy.
Guest Posted March 23, 2016 Posted March 23, 2016 All those pesky flood years are starting to pay off. Global warming & El Ninos are all welcome. I like that Beaver has become a dirty water fishery on the upper end. Last year, I was complaining about beaver, but hadn't given in a chance in the past 6-8 years. Things have really changed for the better. I'm glad the lake proved me wrong. I'm looking forward to April & May.
