WebFreeman Posted February 25, 2007 Posted February 25, 2007 I'm wanting to tie some foam beetles to use as indicators. I'm finding tons of recipes, but I'm not quite clear on the foam. I find the sheets everywhere, but I it doesn't look like that's what's used in the recipes. timsfly Posted February 25, 2007 Posted February 25, 2007 any good closed cell foam will work, the stuff at wal-mart is ok, it tears a little faster than foam that wapsi sells, I use the 1/8" from wapsi, it is tough comes in a lot of good colors and floats high. Make sure what ever you use is closed cell, unless you want a sinking beetle, but hey sinking beetles work well in the riffles here at roaring river or during hard rain, a lot of beetles get knocked in the water. Good luck. Tim Homesley 23387 st. hwy 112 Cassville, Mo 65625 Roaring River State park Tim's Fly Shop www.missouritrout.com/timsflyshop
WebFreeman Posted February 26, 2007 Author Posted February 26, 2007 Thanks Tim. I think my first trout on a dry was on a beetle at RR. It holds a found place in my heart, plus I get tired of trout hitting my indicator. “Many go fishing all their lives without knowing that it is not fish they are after.” — Henry David Thoreau Visit my web site @ webfreeman.com for information on freelance web design.
