DeepDiver75 Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 Will be heading down to BSSP on Wednesday morning for 5 days of fishing the park and river. I was wondering if anyone knew how the latest round of rain has affected the water levels down there. The last report that i could find was on Weavers site but it was a couple of weeks old. Thanks for any info.

DeepDiver75 Posted February 26, 2007 Author Posted February 26, 2007 Thanks for the link STL FLY. If I'm reading the info correctly it looks as though the stream definitely came up over the weekend. Not sure what normal levels are but it will be a good site to watch and monitor stream conditions.
Snow Fly Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 DD75: About 2/3 weeks ago the water level was up about 8" which is about what normal was until about 5 years ago when the rains stopped being normal. Keep an eye on Weavers web, they should be posting something soon about water conditions with opening day coming up soon. www.missouritrout.com/weavers/ Just checked their opening day report is up showing water level up 2" with good tint for fishing. "God gave fishermen expectancy, so they would never tire of throwing out a line"
Members STL FLY Posted February 26, 2007 Members Posted February 26, 2007 Yeah, it looks like the water is up a bit, and that's probably a good thing for Bennett. The low water level of past few years has really changed the qulity of fishing in some spots. I usually go fishing once a week and alway used to go to Bennett, however; the past 3 years I found that Montauk and upper Current has really been my goto places for bigger and better action fishing. I will always go to Bennett because I just love it there, and I hope this high water will bring back some better action. Also try weighted flies ( Woolie, Flashback #14, and weighted egg patterns) and cast closer to the back for bigger catch downstream from the bridge, use a droper if you can, it will double your catch. Happy fishing
