Members STL FLY Posted February 28, 2007 Members Posted February 28, 2007 Guys, I used to own a Weber Kettle to smoke my trout. We recently moved and the wife requested that we get a gas grill. My kid brother sold my Weber at our Garage sale and needly to say I was upset!!! Does anyone know a good way to smoke trout with gas grills and will it ever be the same??!! Or should I just fork our for a new Webber???
Members jsharp Posted February 28, 2007 Members Posted February 28, 2007 Check with who you bought your grill from.My brother has a metal tray/pan that sits on his grill were you put wood chips in as you cook/smoke your Fish,Ribs and other meats.
Terry Beeson Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 Sell the grill and buy a DODGE PICKUP!... (You there, David?) For true smoking, I'd buy the weber... But you can make some fine grilled trout on a gas grill. Members bojack Posted March 26, 2007 Members Posted March 26, 2007 since it doesn't take that long to smoke trout i don't take the time to fire up my weber. i have a smoker box about 9" x 4" i fill 1/2 way with maple sticks or hickory chips and that does a great job. by the time you fire up the weber and the coals get ready you could be done on a gas grill. i put foil on the grates, put the trout on the foil belly side up, put butter,a few sleces of lemon(or lemon pepper) and cook them till they're done the way you like them. good luck.
The Caddis Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 You can get the smoke box at either Home Depot or Lowes. I use this in both my gax grill and smoker. I have both, its the only way to go, I mean, you never know when you may need to smoke ribs, brisket, sausage, chicken, turkey, and more ribs all at the same time.
