I'm going to be in the Branson area next month and plan to do a little kayak fishing on the James from Hootentown to Galena. I figured I could do about 10 miles a day. Any of you guys that have some knowledge of that stretch can you tell if these are good put in and take out points (see the attachement)

Thanks

10 miles with actually fishing is pushing it. I've a killer bad day or I'd post a long detailed view of access, but if the bloody maps on this site would load (COUGH, COUGH PHIL)  it would show you what you need to see  for the most part.

Thanks RS for the info. I will certainly consider making the float shorter. What sections would you float if you only had a day or two? (Put in and Take out)

Probably Hootentown to H.L. Kerr. I usually put in and portage up but that stretch has always been good fishing going either way.

Thanks Crappie, I've seen that too. Just looking for a little more definition on the river access.

thanks again.

Well unfortunately that's the most defined list of access points on the web for the James River it tells you where there are public and private access to the river as well as what Mille mark they are so other than that I don't know what you are looking for then

if every body had a pole and a fish on the line there would never be a war

Crappie, I don't disagree with you that, that may be the most defined list on the web.

But what I was hoping for was that another forum member might have some additional information. What I did was look for access using google map and captured those addresses in the links like this one JR Access 3. Perhaps another forum user, one who has floated the James and become familiar with it, might open that link and say, "Oh yeah I use that all the time", or "Sure but just check with the farmer at the end of the road". That's what I was looking for, just to see if anyone else had any knowledge up in their noggin that wasn't published out on the web.

Thanks again for you input.
