Members verbs72 Posted March 7, 2007 Members Posted March 7, 2007 Just wondering how things are going at the lake, with reconstruction, weather and lake conditions. It's been a while since anyone reported anything, and the weather has seemed to make the turn for the best. Either fishing is just so good that people can't make it to the computer to report or ya'll are still froze to death! No worries, I'm trying to make it down in two weeks to open up the house and start the annual spring cleaning. Anyone have anything to report? Thanks ya'll!!!
mcp633 Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 My Dad went yesterday. Crappie are still a little slow according to him, and he knows his stuff. If you don't stand behind our troops, please feel free to stand in front of them
Members Whopper Stopper Posted March 9, 2007 Members Posted March 9, 2007 I can't help with the lake info, but I am watching this site as well to plan my first trip of the year. I plan to fish only when the big boats arent around. That means early and late in the season. I can tell you that at least the small lake fish are waking up though. I went to a seven acre lake near New Melle yesterday, and caught an estimated 18 lbs. of bass. I started at the shallow end and got three stikes on a Senco Swim Worm, but no fish. I walked the bank all the way around past the dam and continued till I reached the shallow end. Caught two 1lb. fish on a Christmas tree that someone sank last year. That was it. Fished my way back around the lake to near where I started. A few more cast and I was heading out. Bang! A six and a half lb. female that was ready to bust with eggs. She wallowed around like a fat hog. I let her go and took about ten steps, made a cast and bang! A four and a half lb. female. For the next hour I caught and released five more bass of about one lb. each. Got'em all on a shallow running Shadrap. Sure glad I fished that bank one more time. Its killing me that I can't go back this weekend. I travel with my work and I have to leave Sat. morning for Cressona Pa. for about a week. I'll have the memories to keep me warm untill I get back there. Catch you later.b

To tell you the truth it has been very good. I can't speak for crappie because I haven't been, but bass fishing is getting real good or has been for some time depending on who you talk to. We were out sunday had a five lber, three lber and a squeeker from about 10:30 to 2:00 on sticks. Did manage one nice crappie on the stick to. No real color preference, just shad will do. Will be out both days this weekend. Water is warming and things are really changing daily. I heard yesterday people talking about shallow cruisers in the clear water pockets when the sun is shinning bright and warm.
