jjtroutbum Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 Will be in the park with Pop and Bro this weekend for some after opener bites. I hope. Currently tying up a few of Deepdiver75's lil scuds he was kind enough to share during opening week. Which accounted to triple digets when all was said and done for me over the course of five days spent at the park. Will be in a dark gray or gold I forget which exacty lol four door dakota with shell on back JJ Jon Joy ___________ "A jerk at one end of the line is enough." unknown author The Second Amendment was written for hunting tyrants not ducks. brittsnbirds Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 Ok, now that you spoke of it what's the recipe for the Deepdiver75? Possibly a picture?
jjtroutbum Posted March 8, 2007 Author Posted March 8, 2007 Deepdiver75 is a fellow member of OAF and the pattern is a tiny little scud size 20 or so in olive or ginger color sorry no digi camera for pictures. Hope that clears up my last post for ya Jon Joy ___________ "A jerk at one end of the line is enough." unknown author The Second Amendment was written for hunting tyrants not ducks. DeepDiver75 Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 Sounds like those little scud patterns I gave you worked out pretty good JJ. My buddy and I probably averaged 50-75 fish a day using pretty much nothing but those small scuds. Purple was a real hot color when it was overcast, not so much when the sun popped out. I really think that the small size (#20) was the key to working so well last weekend. Good to meet you , we'll have to hook up and fish Taney one of these days when the generation slows down.
Members n2fishin Posted March 13, 2007 Members Posted March 13, 2007 Hey JJ fishin was good last weekend. Seems my daughter had the big one. We stayed with the john deere through the day and seemed to do well. I plan on coming back this weekend for a little 3 or 4 day trip. I'll probably come by myself this time.
jjtroutbum Posted March 13, 2007 Author Posted March 13, 2007 Sammy Seems like your now officially hooked on trout fishing. Don't think I'll be able to make another trip so soon, but ya never know I may be able to swing another trip sooner than I may give myself credit for. Remember keep your line tight and your eyes open for any change in the drift and you'll soon be able to catch fish like those daughters of yours. Greg Posted April 1, 2007 Posted April 1, 2007 Are your scuds tied with dubbing? Do you use a ribbing and/or a shell back? I'm just really curious because although I don't usually have trouble catching fish at Bennett - I haven't had a lot of success with scud patterns. thanks, Gre "My biggest worry is that my wife (when I'm dead) will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it" - Koos Brandt Greg Mitchell
