RiverRunner Posted March 13, 2007 Posted March 13, 2007 I'll vouch for KT's, its the best bbq in North Arkansas. Be sure to try the peanut butter pie, its the best this side of Alabama. So what is so special about "yankee style bbq"?
Members Salmo Trutta Posted March 14, 2007 Author Members Posted March 14, 2007 BBQ and peanut butter pie! Looks like it will be KT's the first night. What is Yankee style BBQ?
Terry Beeson Posted March 14, 2007 Posted March 14, 2007 My question would by why JT doesn't open a TEXAS style BBQ joint in the area?... MMMMMMmmmmmmMMMMMMMmmmmmmmm... Make ya wanna slap yo momma! John Berry Posted March 17, 2007 Posted March 17, 2007 I am a commited gourmand and barbeque afficianado. I was on a barbeque team in the Memphis in May World Championship Barbeque contest for fourteen years and I have never heard of Yankee Barbeque. What is it? Barbeque is a time honored southern tradition, slow cooking inexpensive cuts of pork (beef in Texas)over a slow smokey fire. I am interested in finding out more about this yankee barbeque. SilverMallard Posted March 18, 2007 Posted March 18, 2007 Yankee style BBQ? Ketchup on a hot dog?? Yeah, that must be it! KC is pretty far North. They're yankees. And they think they have great BBQ. Man, I've suddenly got a hankering for some slow mesquite smoked brisqette, jalapeno cornbread, and ranchero beans. I am with you on this John...nothing like Delta BBQ, slow cooked pork, chopped on a big bun, vinegary cole slaw on top, with just the RIGHT sauce. That, friends and the Rendevous is about all I miss though of Memphis. I left there in 81. I did attend the first Memphis in May festival though, and all until I left that area. Good times. Terry Beeson Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 Ah... and don't forget Beale Street and tamales at Blue's City Cafe... Then all the blues - B B King's, Alfred's, Rum Boogie... Not to mention the outdoor stuff and street musicians. And you can't go wrong with the dueling pianos at Silky O'Sullivan's... I did "Memphis in May" a couple of years ago during the BBQ contest. Man... talk about good eats!!! But it's all about the ribs, bud... Good ribs RULE!!!
