Tightline Posted March 12, 2007 Posted March 12, 2007 For my birthday I received a guided Striper trip on Beaver.First time ever on Beaver, first time guided. It started off really slow but towards the end we landed these 2.My nephew and I are in the pic,his weighed 21 lbs and mine was 20.1 lbs.I know these are just medium sized but we were both proud to get em. I would hate to try and land one of these this size or bigger on regular Bass tackle. We fished with Frankie who is with BeaverFever guides. He had a 32 lb just days before. Beaver Lake is without a doubt one of the most beautiful lakes I have ever seen. The bluffs are awsome, and I really envy you all who live down there. TL [attachmentid=1099

I'm ready to fight one of them big boys on an 8 wt fly rod!!! Tightline Posted March 12, 2007 Author Posted March 12, 2007 Terry,I know some of you experienced Fly guys could get em in.Me ,I'm gonna wait a few years before I try that. And I'm gonna need a reel as big around as a pie plate!
Samkam1 Posted March 12, 2007 Posted March 12, 2007 Nice catch guys! We have a trip planned with BeaverFever in May. Those guys know how to do it. I can't wait! Arkansas has some premier striper water...Bever, Norfork, etc. You know when you get a striper on your rig...hold on tight :-)
WebFreeman Posted March 12, 2007 Posted March 12, 2007 I'd be proud, too. Those look like awesome fish to me. W/o revealing guide secrets, etc., how did you guys catch them? Do I remember that the state record came from the Beaver Tailwater or am I confused (it happens all the time.). “Many go fishing all their lives without knowing that it is not fish they are after.” — Henry David Thoreau Visit my web site @ webfreeman.com for information on freelance web design.
Tightline Posted March 12, 2007 Author Posted March 12, 2007 Web we were using Shiners. Thanks guys and yes we were proud of em.I just can't imagine what a 40 pounder would be like after fighting those 20s. TL
jay bird Posted March 13, 2007 Posted March 13, 2007 Great fish, and I am with Terry I am still trying to get a big one on my Fly Rod. It is harder than it sounds, last year we went out and only took the fly rods so we would not be tempted to cheat. We where in the fish thick, but could not get one to take the fly. On the other hand there is nothing better than 10-20 pound fish on top water with 14-17 pound test and a bass rod. They hit the lures so hard that if you have any type of heart condition you had better have your nitro patches with you.
