I fished from 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Most fish were caught on size 4 clouser's in white/gray with flash and yellow/white with flash. I was having so much fun I stopped counting at 30. All fish were released to fight again.

Nice, were you up on the shoals by the Turnpike bridge. Heading down there Tuesday morning to get them again.

Don't take this as anything "slamming" you, russ. I am simply asking out of ignorance of the facts.

When I was introduced to the White Bass run years ago, my fishing buddy who took me made the commment that the White Bass fight so hard during the run that any that are culled or break off would most likely die due to the levels of lactic acid. So I never considered "catch and release" for White Bass. Is this the case or is this an "old wive's tale?"

I'd like to get in on the White Bass run, but have been reluctant since I'm not a BIG fan of them on the dinner table and didn't want to kill them just for the sport. I like them, but only about a "mess" or two...

I think its just an old wives tale. Every fish gets stressed and produces lactic acid when being caught but I don't see any scientific studies saying that white bass will all die after they are being caught. Really the only study I have found is that Striped Bass are more sensitive Hybrid Bass.

Good question Terry, to which I have no answer. But from observations yesterday, I didn't notice any carcasses floating whenever I walked a good distance back to the truck.

Hopefully, someone here can clarify this. Or better yet, I am going to make a phone call. Be right back.

No truth that Terry. However, they do produce some lactic acid, but not enough to be a detriment to them. Fish on, Garth, I mean Terry.

Thanks for the info, guys. I like that White Bass tug for sure and now I won't feel bad about pitchin' 'em back... and watchin' the faces of the guys around me wonderin' why...
