Members whiteriverinnmoose Posted March 31, 2007 Members Posted March 31, 2007 Hey There, The fishing today was very very good on the White as the caddis have certainly started coming off in droves. My client Larry Dale and I caught fish one cast after another at times in 15 to 20 minute spurts. We literally had takes on every cast and missed as many as we caught. We used soft hackles called anna kays. The Mountain River Flyshop sells them ,as they are one of Rons creations.Go in the shop and tell Ron that Moose says his little creation really does catch trout. If you possibly have the time to come fish the White,it doesnt get a whole lot better than this. shawncat Posted March 31, 2007 Posted March 31, 2007 Moose can you give us any colors of the caddis and the anne kays? Thanks
Members whiteriverinnmoose Posted March 31, 2007 Author Members Posted March 31, 2007 Hey Shawncat, The anna kay only comes in one color as it is Rons creation. If you want to tie it yourself,it is basically a chartreuese thoraxed soft hackle, and it has two very small pieces of green chanille that look like to tiny little wings emerging.I think right now most soft hackles will work well because the bite is so good ,but later the anna kay will stand out because it looks very much like the emerging caddis.A lot of the dry fly fisherman are also having very good days on elk hair caddis.Sometimes it is just hard for me to stop catchin one fish after another, even though it is quite obvious that the dry fly bite is obviously just as good. Good Luck Shawn, Moose http://thewhiteriverinn.com
