I never knew how much fun they were on a fly rod! (I sure wish I coulda started fly fishing for them eirlier )Well we were using a white and chartruse jig bout 8 foot under a large peice of foam and would strip it back and pretty much doodlesock it. It was tons of fun! Well thats all I have to say "Its clearly Bree time baby!" Member: 2009 U.S. Youth Fly-Fishing Team. Members hornyheadchub Posted April 3, 2007 Members Posted April 3, 2007 caught a herring A what? Dude, Herring are marine fish, perhaps it was a shad.
Guest Posted April 3, 2007 Posted April 3, 2007 Skipjack Herring or maybe a hickory shad, kinda look like little tarpon. they are freshwater.
Members hornyheadchub Posted April 3, 2007 Members Posted April 3, 2007 My bad. Here's a great link. I guess my lack of big river schooling fish experience threw me off on this one. Here is a link to a list of common names of Alosa chrysochloris BTW, the Hickory shad - Alosa mediocris is a completely different fish.
