I am new to this forum, and absolutely love the great info the members offer. Hats Off to Bill Babbler, who unselfishly presents so many good tips and tricks. We just moved here from California, and spent most of my bass fishing days in Texas in the past-- Choke Canyon and others in the Dallas area. Did do some fishing at Smithville in the 80's. This lake is tough I understand, but beautiful and great for fishing -- with the patience. We moved here last August, so all my experience at TR has been in the summer. The drop shotting was new to me, but still managed to catch 10 keepers. I have fished here three times in the past month, and managed to catch only a few keepers. We moved around the country for my Federal job for the past 20 years, and luckily this is my last move-- a place we will be retiring to. I made the decision to buy a Pontoon Boat last summer, so my wife would go fishing with me. Got the 18' Tracker Bass Buggy with trolling motor and Lowrance Unit, and I love it. Added a live well, as the factory one was about the size of a large minnow bucket. I know it's not the "state-of-the-art" bass boat, but it works for me. Well, anyway, if you see a tall guy in the Kimberlin City area in a pontoon boat, that will be me, most likely.

By the way, what is a Goggle Eye?

Look forward to more interesting discussions.... :bye:

Joe,

Welcome to Missouri! Your rig sounds like a great family set up. I've got grandkids now and your rig would work very well!

Hope to see you on the water.

Welcome to OAF and Southern Missouri. I thought Drop Shotting started in California. Then again I may be wrong it wouldn't be the first time.

Respect your Environment and others right to use it!

...By the way, what is a Goggle Eye?...

Ya'll ain't from 'round here, 're ya boy...

"Goggle-eye" is one of the names for the Warmouth aka Stump Knocker... Similar to a Rock Bass (they are different species) and some people will refer to Rock Bass as Goggle-eye (I've done that myself.) Big characteristic that tells you it's a Goggle-eye or Rock Bass - a "red eye"... not to be confused with a Redear sunfish. The red eye is the color of the eyes of the fish.

In other words, it's a fish...

Welcome to the forum....
