Members back o d boat Posted April 18, 2007 Members Posted April 18, 2007 I have had in my mind for sometime buying a damaged bass boat from and insurance carrier and chopping it down to make a nice one man boat.i was thinking I could cut the boat in half behind the front deck, then reattach the transom making a 20 ft boat into a 12' so 1 or 2 full grown men could fish off it on small water.I was thinking of using a small tiller motor for power and good trolling motor. Do you think it would work??Ideas please. thanks Back o d boat
troutchaser Posted April 18, 2007 Posted April 18, 2007 Aluminum welders don't work for peanuts, but if you don't mind paying the price, It would sure be worth trying. You'd probably have to cut the transom down. Depending on the model, it might be a few inches wider at the stern than at the midpoint. Paul Rone
Rusty Posted April 18, 2007 Posted April 18, 2007 I don't know. However, if Thomas Edison (edited to correct. Ben Franklin) hadn't tinkered around with a kite during a thunderstorm, would we be typing around on the information highway right now?
Members yummysmokedham Posted April 18, 2007 Members Posted April 18, 2007 I would think it would be hard tracking down a damaged boat with damage only in the areas you want to get rid of. Most damaged boats I have seen have either transom damage or bow damage.

Terry Beeson Posted April 18, 2007 Posted April 18, 2007 ...if Thomas Edison hadn't tinkered around with a kite during a thunderstorm, would we be typing around on the information highway right now? TEN YARD PENALTY!!! (Ben Franklin...) Uh... I ASSUME we're talking an aluminum boat here... right? Possibly plausable in theory... Let us know if it works... Rusty Posted April 18, 2007 Posted April 18, 2007 I can't believe I did that. My one mistake of the year. Correction will be made. Thanks Terry.
Members back o d boat Posted April 18, 2007 Author Members Posted April 18, 2007 Well actually I would rather have a fiberglass boat. Heck I could even do the glass work. But wouldnt a mini Ranger for 1 man be neat. Back o d boat
