Members armyflyfisher Posted April 23, 2007 Members Posted April 23, 2007 Guys.... Today I noticed a deep cut on a WF fly line that I have. the cut's at least 20 feet in, so I just can't cut the line. I was wondering if there is a way to repair the line? Can I superglue it so something? Thanks, David
timsfly Posted April 23, 2007 Posted April 23, 2007 I have fixed lines like that for customers before, superglue the cut, then wrap over it as neatly as you can with some tying thread, I use 3/0 most of the time, and use what ever color you like, I wrap about an inch on both sides of the cut, then I use some water proof epoxy or some softex to cover the thread, it will never look the same and it will always make some noise going thru the guides, but you can go ahead and use the line. I use the softex most of the time, it is pliable and drys clear. Good luck. Oh when wrapping the 3/0 thread, at the last 1/4" double some 4 or 6 pound(about 6" should be enough) mono making a loop, wrap over this loop and when you cut your 3/0 you can put the tag end in the loop and pull the 3/0 mono back into the wrap and it won't come undone while you are mixing epoxy or opening your softex.
