I have fished Roark Creek numerous times, and it has its spots that hold decent smallmouth.

Right off Shep Hills Exp where the Canyon Creek Ranch is located there is this quarry. I park near the train trestle bridge and fish right there, I don't even know if its actually legal to fish here or not. I have seen and caught decent sizes in there when the water is dirty. Most of them all really small.. but I've seen fish up to 18 inches. When its crystal clear it fishes good with dries. (i.e. - hoopers, cricket, beetles, small poppers, Humpies etc.. etc..)

Also to note is the water directly across from the Rosebud Inn. The creek makes a sharp bend right there at the junction of James Epps Rd and Roark Valley Rd. Epps is the road that goes downhill across from WalMart. The stretch of water there fishes pretty good.. and its real close.

Oh - and the water by Stockstill park has some spots that hold fish there too.

I've threatened to poke around it, but haven't, one of these days. The road across from Wal Mart is Forsyth, if I'm on the same page with you.

How about Turkey creek, is there anything up it?

Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

Oops - you're right, that road is Forsyth.

Epps is that road where you turn off to get to the bridge down from Stockstill.

Turkey Creek can fish well.. if you watch it. I know of a guy who caught a gorgeous 6lb rainbow out of there. WOW is right. This was years ago when it held more water that is has now. Mostly stockers are in there.. tiny fish.. and the herons love them.

Well - there is a great big wide gate now to enter where I used to go in and fish the Roark Quarry land.. which proves to me that it probably isnt the best place to park and wade away from the truck. Poo!

I park near the park with the tennis courts (don't remember the name and I think it was when they were still under construction, so it's been a few years) and wade up past the bridge/overpass. It was the middle of summer, but I caught a 17 in smallmouth. It was my personal best at the time :D . It sure was skinny. I always wanted to fish it more, but never had the time.

Lots of water running thru there now.. so its gonna be a good spring!

The water at the trestle bridge by the quarry was raging and there was a tree of two lodged up against it.

Hopefully some clear water stays in there so I can see the smallies!

crappiefisherman...

I have fished that a few time... its been a few years ago...

yes it has fish in it.. yes you should take a small boat...

oh yes that thing is full of snakes and turtles... its is only about 3 foot mostly... but I remember that is alittle pothole in there just under 5 foot deep.... DO NOT TRY TO WADE THIS WATER... mud bottom!!!

the fish we caught when we fished it were:

a few smallies (nothing over 10in)

some LMB (biggest was about 17in)

crappie (nothing over 8in)

bluegills (all just under hand size)

Im not sure but I think someone told me at one time that was a fish hatchery.. then the one at the dam was built.. so then they turn that in to a water treatment plant...
