timsfly Posted May 24, 2007 Author Posted May 24, 2007 Water is in fine shape below town, fished the dairy farm section, someone was ahead of me on the conservation side. Landed 4, 1 about 4" long, 1 about 10" long and two about 12" long, and broke off a real nice one every bit of 16 or 17" hooked it on a conehead muddler type fly. Hooked a total of 7 landed 4, caught two on a #8 black beetle, 1 on a brown bugger and one on the cone head muddler before I broke it off. Got most of my strikes on the beetle. drew03cmc Posted May 24, 2007 Posted May 24, 2007 Good to know there are still some nice fish in Crane. I need to get down there to fish it. Would you say a 3wt is sufficient? I aim to grab a 3wt outfit pretty quick for the summer trout season Andy
timsfly Posted May 24, 2007 Author Posted May 24, 2007 Yes a 3wt will work great if there is not to much wind, today would have been perfect for a 2 or 3 wt, but I used my 4wt, it was in the truck ready to go. drew03cmc Posted May 27, 2007 Posted May 27, 2007 Wow, I am excited. All I need to do is convince the missus to move down around Springfield, and I will be set! Andy
