RSBreth Posted May 26, 2007 Posted May 26, 2007 I had an odd day of fishing, not that the fishing was bad, but an odd series of mishaps. First, I catch a nice photo-worthy smallie, and right as the shutter snaps on the timer, a wasp stings me on the upper left thigh: Then after a couple of smaller fish I get a good fight out of nice smallmouth, bring him in, and he looks like this: What is wrong with this guy? Early injury to the spine? He fought well, jumped, and swam away just fine, so it must not be hindering the stream survival skills. Weird. Lastly, I get a huge rod bending strike on a crankbait, the type of hit that feels like a solid 5, then the fish turns, runs with the current, and does the backwards spinning 360 degree jump. O.K., so I see he's smaller but still a 3, right? No, I get him in and he's only 1 pound, but I shot a picture anyway for being such a strong fighter. Fished until about 3, and only saw one person, in a small jet-powered jon.

Terry Beeson Posted May 27, 2007 Posted May 27, 2007 Alien implants? Effects of horse manure? Results of a freak swimming accident? Global warming? Republican? Democrat? Not sure, but still a nice fish... As for the wasp sting... take it like a man and don't move!!!... Just kiddin'... And if he fought like you said, the 1 lb.er deserved a moment in the spotlight!! Nice report and pictures..... and PHEESH!! TIGHT LINES, YA'LL "There he stands, draped in more equipment than a telephone lineman, trying to outwit an organism with a brain no bigger than a breadcrumb, and getting licked in the process." - Paul O’Neil
Tightline Posted May 28, 2007 Posted May 28, 2007 RS,was just wondering what kind of camera you use to take out in the boat with you.I am leary of taking our good camera on the water since I dunked it for about a second in Taney once, didn't hurt it thank goodness.Yours takes good pics.
RSBreth Posted May 28, 2007 Author Posted May 28, 2007 The camera I've been using is an inexpensive HP Photosmart 525. It takes better pictures than I expected, 6 MP, but the ones posted are reduced in size for easy uploading. It has a timer, so it's easy to get a picture of good fish, set up on a small tripod secured to the tackle bag in the front of the canoe. I think it was 120.00, so if I dunk it, I won't cry too hard.
