I want to know what the "composite" is based on... Unbreakable? Let them send me one and test it for a few days... I can break an anvil with a rubber hammer...

I think it's way cool, but I can buy 7 Okuma composite reels for about the same $200. I just can't get excited about expensive reels except for applications for game fish over 20 lbs. (salmon, steelhead, saltwater, stripers, etc.)

It seems to me every time mankind comes up with something unbreakable - it gets broke. I'm with Terry, they should send me one for an extensive field test. If it can stand up to me it would have to be a great reel.

I would rather be fishin'.

I have some composite reels that I know I could drive nails with and then take them fishing. But I don't believe in words like unbreakable, unsinkable, fireproof, waterproof, etc. These words are used in marketing literature in place of longer, less impressive, but more accurate phrases like "extremely rugged, exceptionally buoyant even when damaged, maximum flame resistant, and water-tight to X depth of submergence."

A lot of folks poo-poo composite reels, but I am a HUGE fan of them for their durability, low maintenance, and low price tag when compared to fully machined aluminum. And I just will not buy a stamped reel.

Loop reels are supposedly da bomb. But unless I was doing some serious saltwater fishing for high-speed fish, I just wouldn't even consider spending that kind of jack on a reel.

If you know anything about loop, then that would prove your wrong. of course if you take a sledge to it you are gonna break it. how ignorant can you be. usually when it comes to reels the unbreakable comes from day to day wear and tear and banging it on rocks or dropping it. Not from beating it with a hammer.

There are two types of people. Those who dream dreams and wish, then there are the do'ers. I am a do'er!

Dan Baileys used to put out a clear reel, it was standard arbor and it was a neat little reel, not that expensive, I think it was about 48.00 but it was unusual looking and I sold a few and none have broke yet, they seem to be very durable, I just put new line on one a few months ago.
