am4mu Posted June 10, 2007 Posted June 10, 2007 I was just digging through the basement and found an old fly rod combo. I'm not even sure how I gained ownership but if my feeble mind serves me correctly I think I bought it new back when I was bass fishing all of the time. Rod Shakespere FY1615 line weight 5-6 Reel Shakespere E Sigma 94 This is a glass rod that is a real buggy whip. Anyone have any more insight into what I have here. It seems like a K-Mart combo. This rig has to be over twenty years old. Thanks, Doug Oh I forgot to mention the rod is 7'6" Thanks, Doug Doug Kiefer Independence, Mo h: am4mu@comcast.net w: dougk@schulzetool.com
Crippled Caddis Posted June 10, 2007 Posted June 10, 2007 What you have is a real fun fishing outfit! Line it up with new line and let it take you to a brim pond or bass creek and see how much fun you both can have. The reel is nothing less than a rebadged Pflueger Medalist, one of the icons of flyfishing in America. The rod is desireable from 2 aspects---it is shorter than the average in the glass era which makes it more pleasure to use and it uses a lighter line than the vast majority of glass rods. Congratulations on the rediscovery and if you don't like it I will be pleased to furnish my shipping address.;o) CC "You need only reflect that one of the best ways to get yourself a reputation as a dangerous citizen these days is to go about repeating the very phrases which our founding fathers used in their struggle for independence." ---Charles Austin Beard
