Troutn Posted June 16, 2007 Posted June 16, 2007 I am going to be on Table Rock around the dam area this next week and was hoping to get a few clues as to how to catch a few crappie. I do not spend much time crappie fishing at all and I know that it is a bitt late to be fishing for them now. I was hoping to get a few clues as to what you key off of for crappie. I don't need any secret spots, it just would be nice to know how deep to fish, what lure or bait might I try or any other general information. If there are any spots that are disclosed, I will be catch and release only this week. My main goal is to field test a new lure. Thanks in advance for the info! Nathan
FRENZEL Posted June 18, 2007 Posted June 18, 2007 After the end of May I do my crappie fishing at night. Find some trees in about 40 feet of water on a bluff and drop down a light at sunset. Filets by morning. Just down from gages marina is a good spot. Left side as you head up towards cricket. Use swimmin minnows vertical or net the live shad. Jeremy Rasnick Posted June 19, 2007 Posted June 19, 2007 I'd have to agree. I have hear a lot of stories about fishing under the lights. I have only fished pre existing lights on the Gages Docks. The one on the very South End seems to work. Speaking of Crappie. Here is a picture of a crappie that Phil Caught on one of our early trips this spring. He doesn't post enought pictures of himself on here so i'll do him a favor. I'll admit one thing, Phil put it on me that evening,
Troutn Posted June 19, 2007 Author Posted June 19, 2007 Thanks a ton for the information. I'll be giving it an honest go of it the next couple of nights. Nathan
FRENZEL Posted June 21, 2007 Posted June 21, 2007 Drop a submersible light over the side at sundown. Wait a few hours and usually you will have a giant ball of shad under you. Drop your bait under the baitfish and catch you a crappie or white bass. Jigs , sonics . grubs, or even better net some shad TRACY FRENZEL FRENZELS GUIDE SERVICE 417-699-2277 "ONE MORE CAST"
