troutchaser Posted June 19, 2007 Posted June 19, 2007 So my wife says to me, "I know you haven't fished in several weeks. We should all go camping and fishing this weekend. Where do you want to go?" My reply was something like "Uhhh. . .Uhhhhhhhh. . . I dunno." [paraphrased] SOOOOOoooooo...my question is, where would you recommend? I've considered Tablerock SP and fishing Taneycomo, but my wife likes to keep the fish. I've also considered Roaring River and Bennett Spring, since they are a put and take fishery meant for great fambly outings like this one. I know it's too late to get a site in the State Park Campgrounds, so if you folks could recommend a campground near any of these, I'd appreciate it. Paul Rone
timsfly Posted June 19, 2007 Posted June 19, 2007 You can get a tent site at Roaring river about anytime, but if you want electric you are right it is problably to late, call the Roaring River resort, they have the campground here behind the shop, their # is 417-847-3235 Mark should be able to help you if he has anything available, there are a few more, but I don't have their #'s handy. Fishmeister Posted June 19, 2007 Posted June 19, 2007 Eagle Rock campground is nice. Also located on TR so if the kids want to play around the lake they can. Drive is not too bad 6-8 miles?, guessing. We stayed there during RR kids day and decided we would stay there again.
Wayne SW/MO Posted June 19, 2007 Posted June 19, 2007 If you can get in, RR is the place, its probably the most family friendly fishing park we have. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
gonefishin Posted June 20, 2007 Posted June 20, 2007 Depends on what all you want to do and what you want to fish for. If it is just camping and you all want to fish for trout then RR or BS are good. You mentioned liking to keep fish so I would also suggest Stockton. There are some nice camping areas up there and you should be able to catch a lot of fish to keep. If you want to fly fish there are a lot of areas up there that you can wade. I would rather be fishin'. "Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Members Jshade Posted June 20, 2007 Members Posted June 20, 2007 Spring river Ar. stay at Riverside and do the 5 mile float back to camp. Spend alot of time on the other side of the hatchery at the float putin. and also just upstream of the campground. Riverside is a nice campground for families. And the more rowdy stuff that happens on the Spring River, generally is futher downstream from the campground.
Terry Beeson Posted June 20, 2007 Posted June 20, 2007 Jshade, GOOD ONE!!!! If you are at riveside... Just below those falls and to the "left" is a nice shelf.... The brown in my avitar lives there if nobody took him home for supper... Just around the bend upstream is Bayou Access and you may have to elbow your way in around a few bait fishermen, but yes, good fishing from those falls up to the head of Bayou. Dodge the canoe hatch by fishing these in the morning, then move up to Dam 3 in the afternoon after the last canoe launch. Yes, Riverside is a good family campground. None of the rowdy s#!t there like at Many Islands and down... Members Jshade Posted June 20, 2007 Members Posted June 20, 2007 Nice pic Terry, that's the camping spot I always try to get, just out of frame to the right of that pic.
