DeepDiver75 Posted June 20, 2007 Posted June 20, 2007 I'm leaving early Friday morning for a quick one day to the park. Too much water running at all my favorite tailwaters ! Anyone from the area wanna catch a ride down let me know, got room in the truck.
trout fanatic Posted June 20, 2007 Posted June 20, 2007 Wish I could meet ya there DD, but gotta work. Me and a friend went down today though. Water as at normal pool and crystal clear. Had a hard time keepin them on the line. Lost 4 or 5 and landed 7 with a 15 incher being the brute of the day. They seem larger than in the past to me, spotted a pig of a brown that I estimate in excess of 10 pounds and a rainbow of 7 or 8 in zone 2. Fortunately (for my 2 # test tippet anyway) they weren't interested in anything I offered. Cracklebacks, caddis larva and zebra midges seemed to work the best for us (midges in black, red and cream colors)
jjtroutbum Posted June 27, 2007 Posted June 27, 2007 Thanks for the mini report T.F. ! How did you do D.D.? Try that Rick's Caddis or any of the others from the swap? It has worked well for me the last few times there were lots of bites on the John Deer. timsfly Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 You should have a good time, I fished Bennett for about 4 hrs today, and it was great fishing, lots of fish in the water, I fished mainly from the hwy bridge by the hatchery down to the hatchery outlet, caught a bunch of fish on black beetles, size #12's and caught a bunch on apricot glo-balls they were small #18's I think, and I had tied them with tungsten heads, they sank fast, and did pretty well on a #14 black ant. I caught maybe 30 fish total, 5 of them were fat little browns, there are a lot of browns in that area. Water was clear, I could see about 7 feet down at the bridge, and I was sight fishing the glo-ball, so you should have a great day on fridsay. DeepDiver75 Posted June 28, 2007 Author Posted June 28, 2007 Posted a report under "Fishing Report 6/22/07" jj. Fishing was awesome . If you havn't been lately you need to hit it now. Between Hillbilly Days and some of the other events that have gone on recently the stream is just full of fish, and some nice ones too.
Members msubobcats Posted June 28, 2007 Members Posted June 28, 2007 Leaving tomorrow noonish for the 3 hour drive to BSSP. The weather looks a bit frightful, and the water level is sure to rise and cloud up. Might make for some tough fishing. We'll see. Go Cats
brittsnbirds Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 Went down yesterday afternoon. Fished below the first handicapp just below the spring. Did OK with a Pemrose and pearl midge. Switched to a grizzly and pearl crackle size 14 and caught several. Moved down to just above the dam. It started raining, finally caught fish after I switched to full sink and a brown and yellow crackle size 12 just above the dam. In about 4 hours I caught approx 30 fish. Water was coming up and it was milky. They were calling for 5" last night. It rained the entire way home to KC area from Osage Beach. Water will be coming up.
