Members Jenny @ The Station Posted June 21, 2007 Members Posted June 21, 2007 The big cats have been really coming off the nest hungry this week. Lots of fish over 30 lb., so far in the last few days a 65 pounder topping out our scales. Water is now being shut down some at night but this hasn't hurt things a bit, actually, it seems to have helped. Crappie have also bit well this week. Many reporting limiting quickly and back off the water by 9am. Seems that jigs and minnows are alternating as the hot bait. Whites and hybrids also showing up again here and there. One hybrid tipped the scales at 11 lb. The heat of summer is predicted to get started this week with temps in the 90's for several days. However, with fishing still being quite good, it should be well worth the effort to get out there. Now that spring is officially behind us, this fishing reporter is going to try to get on the water a little bit more rather than just living vicariously through others. Thus I am going to try reports every other week, barring drastic changes in fishing status. Feel free to send us a fishing report now and again as well. And thank you all for your patronage.
Tightline Posted June 24, 2007 Posted June 24, 2007 2 of my fish buddys and me went to the tailrace Thursday evening. We struggled to catch a fish until about 9:00 pm.We ended up with 40 fish all together,20 Crappie ,18 Whites,1 Channel and 1 Flathead left at midnight. Our bunch have been taking some nice big fish,17 and 13 lb flatheads on plastic, and several hybrids in the 7-8 lb range,so I took my camera, and of course we didn't catch any monsters, but I am gonna post a pic of our mess of fish any way. We caught all our fish on purple and mainly black swimming minnows, beetles, and sliders,1/16 ounce heads on north bank close to the handicap dock.Fishing has been better but still had a good time,Oh and don't tell Slider we fished in his honey hole while he's gone to Louisianna. By the way we got checked by the Mdc agent for the second time this year,so I would make sure your legal if you go up there. We were.
