Chief Grey Bear Posted July 14, 2007 Posted July 14, 2007 I feel they need to be accountable and I just don’t see any. quote] Of all the squeaky wheels on this topic, how much work and/or research has been done to obtain the information you all are looking for? All I have read is that you have made a phone call or two. You think if I call Ford Motor Company I can learn everything I need to know with a phone call? Lets not use that scenario. Ford is a publicly traded company. Let's use MoDOT. Can I (or anyone) get total accountability over the phone? Of course not. We are going to have to do some work. Like many on the thread I think the concept is good and some wonderful things have been done in Missouri with the monies generated by the tax, but being highly cynical concerning governmental agencies I think that those who want a complete accounting are wise to do so. No governmental agency should ever go unexamined. To do so breeds complaisance and the arrogance of power. Civil servants should be reminded at every opportunity that they ARE servants and the people are their masters. CC Do you feel you are getting your monies worth? How is the accounting reported to the tax payers? Do you get a complete accounting statement? Do you get a statement in the mail every year? What have you learned to watch for? What are some of the differences in the two departments? jcoberley Posted July 16, 2007 Author Posted July 16, 2007 Chief Greybear, I think your looking for a personal fight and I am not wanting that. I do want MDC to be accountable for the money. I dont want the trying to be accountable 4 years after the fact! Would you balance your check book every 4 years! I would hope not!!!!!! Dont you file your taxes every year? If a mistake is made wont the IRS contact you pretty fast or will they wait 4 or more years to tell you that you have made a little mistake? Come on get real.... Stop taking this personal and put it on a balance consern level. Fish slow and easy! Borrowed this one from..........Well you know who! A proud memer of P.E.T.A (People Eating Tasty Animals)

Even when some facts have been presented during this discussion, they are for the most part dismissed. Just because I question your action or inaction and offer a different point of view, does not constitute me wanting to physically combat you. I believe I have this on a more balanced concern level than some here merely because I have not already made up my mind that there is a scandal going on and we are being swindled out of millions of dollars. I am asking is it right and is it right for our children and grandchildren. We have a duty to watch out for their future as well as our own. And I feel this is one thing of the many we need watch over. It is one thing for it to be good for the one but another for it to be good for the many and our future? I have noticed through the years that the people that wants things left alone are getting everything they want. well greed will distroy our future. So inclosing I say just use an open eye my friend. I hear ya jc, It's all in the moment to most. To please a few is relativally easy in most cases...to please all, well...that's the hard one! It is man ourselves that are our own worst enemy. As soon as our 'superoir thought process' creates machines that are both mobile and possess 'the power of reasoning' our time, well...we are cutting our own throats imo. Some may be puppets deemed by whatever their circumstances may be...be we aint stinkin robots yet. Good thoughts jc...I DO NOT like the world for which my grandson will have to edure in his lifetime...I hope it will change which it will...that's the only given constant...but the direction it takes remains yet to be seen. I agree totally with that post. I haven't turned a blind eye, but I have not done anything about the directions some areas have taken. Did you read my post about the Prairie Chickens? I also know of some ponds on CA's that need to be rebuilt and restocked. These are not big ponds (less that 1/2 or 1/4 acre) but they used to provide some great fishing with some bass going as big as 3 to 4 lbs. These were old ponds when the MDC got the property and now usually dry up if a long dry season happens. Point being, I am not happy with eveything they do. But they sure have given us a lot too. Do you ever watch their program Missouri Outdoors that comes on during the weekend? I don't think that we are as far apart on this issue as it looks. Missouri Outdoors, host Kip something?...imo a useful propoganda tool to compliment their magazine. If CA's you mention were in a higher profile area they would imo be getting allot more attention. Just please keep your eyes (which apparantly you are) open and you will see the things we speak of my friend. There just could be so much more done. My friends say I'm a douche bag ?? jcoberley Posted July 21, 2007 Author Posted July 21, 2007 Ohh Brownieman we dont even want to go and talk about the part of the state that the most money is spent.
