Hey all. Just joined. I'm new to the streams/rivers, but love it. I grew up fishing and guiding inshore and nearshore salt in the northern Gulf of Mexico/Pensacola, FL.

I have a canoe and what I have deemed the right tackle/flies from research and want to hit the White near/around Cotter. Are there any maps online that I am not finding that might show canoe access points?

Thanks. Look forward to meeting/chatting with you all.

Game and fish Access right at Cotter Spring would be good. Remember its a tailwater and subject to extremly high and fast water levels and generation.

You could take out at Rim Shoals. That would make a nice float on low water with lots of places to get out and wade.

Here's a map of that area.

Hey Jon

I also like the float from Wildcat Shoal to Cotter. about 6 miles.

Cotter to Rim is about 6 also. nice fishing too.

White Sands Motel in Cotter will handle shuttles Im told.

But there is a bunch of options too

I'd also look at running over to the Norfolk Tailwater one day, shuttles at the Woodsman and running down. The Norfolk now has only 2 walk in access points so you cna get to a lot of the middle parts of the river away from others.

Pretty 4 mile float too

One of your best resources currently available currently is the FlyFishers Guide to Missouri and Arkansas. Lots of maps information etc.

The Midsouth Flyfishers book Home Waters is better but not a lot of places still have copies while we all await the new version.

For what its worth we also have a $4.95 map of the area and access' roads etc in the shop.

Drop by the shop and say Gday. The link off my profile should work.

Cheers

Steve
