Fishing Report

Two friends and I camped in Cotter for a couple of nights as I do around the 4th each year. We waded into low generation for about three hours Saturday and I picked up eleven on wooly buggers, pine squirrels, and copper zebras. My friends caught at least as many. One guy broke off a scud and caught the fish later to retrieve his lost fly. The fish fry with hushpuppies and taters that night was awesome.

I hit the river when it stopped raining Sunday and the water was off. I fished for about three hours and landed 18 stocker size bows. Since it was a cloudy day, I only used a black zebra midge. The bite was hotter than I've seen it there. I also caught a sculpin off the midge.

I fished Monday during low generation. Midging was hot at first then things just shut off like somebody flipped a light switch. I caught several more, mostly with woolies. I finished with 16 fish. Nothing was of any size, mostly 12-13inch fish. My biggest was a 14.5 in. brown. Most all fish were taken fishing the seams of faster water. I lost alot more fish than I brought to the net during the trip.

As usual, it was a great trip and I can't wait to go again.

Where did you access and fish at Cotter?

We were in the area directly above the Main St bridge. Accessed at Denton Ferry RV park.
