Danoinark Posted January 28, 2006 Posted January 28, 2006 Brian Did you see the forecast for next Saturday? Snow and High of 34! Might cut down on the number of people. Its crazy, Friday the 3rd its supposed to be 62, then Sunday the 5th. its in the 50's. Dano Glass Has Class "from the laid back lane in the Arkansas Ozarks"
Kansas Fly Fisher Posted January 30, 2006 Posted January 30, 2006 Snow and High of 34! I'm sorry to say, but if it snows I won't be able to make it. It's too far a drive to risk getting caught in some bad weather. Cold; I can deal with. But snow, ice and slick roads will keep me home. Have you thought about a possible alternate date if the weather is too bad. John Born to Fish, Forced to Work KSMEDIC.COM
Danoinark Posted January 30, 2006 Posted January 30, 2006 The latest forecast I saw did not mention snow now. Lets keep our eyes on it. Dano Glass Has Class "from the laid back lane in the Arkansas Ozarks"
Kansas Fly Fisher Posted January 30, 2006 Posted January 30, 2006 I checked the weather site out after making the last post, should have looked at it first I guess. The weather looks like it will cooperate with us. Looking forward to meeting you guys and putting a face with the names. John Born to Fish, Forced to Work KSMEDIC.COM

loo10 Posted February 2, 2006 Posted February 2, 2006 Are we walking? Or do we want some boats too? Rich Looten Springfield, Missouri "If people don't occasionally walk away from you shaking their heads, you're doing something wrong."- John Gierach
Brian K. Shaffer Posted February 3, 2006 Author Posted February 3, 2006 Note - I might fish after.. but not before the trash pickup. I have given it quite a bit of thought over the last few days being up there fishing.. and I think the best thing to do is to meet up at noon.. get the word out to anyone elese who would like to pitch in.. have a snack or two with the guys we will all eventually put faces to the O/A names.. and then just comb the upper 1, 2, and 3 chute sides on foot. People willing to pick up everything and anything they see. Up by 1 - there is debris in the woods by the lot and by the water.. not a lot.. but by 2 there is a little bit of trash all over everywhere it seems.. and I know it aint very much.. but when other people see us picking up trash it will hopefully instill the same thoughts into them. Pick up what someone else was just too busy to disgard correctly. ( it is infectious.. ya know, doing the right thing ) Between 2 and 3.. the trails.. the parking lots.. there is trash that could be removed. After 3 and into 4 there is trash in the trails and again some up the roads or parking areas. The boat ramp area has its share too, so we should jump in the back of a track and run down there with the idea of 4 - 6 of us getting it cleaned up down there. I will end up at the end of the trails nearest Pointe Royale with a new trash bag - still not finished.. but happy that we can all pitch in and make our mark if we put our minds to it. I think Walkie Talkies could help us.. at least - stay in touch. Supplies we will need I can get from the Hatchery. Gloves might be an idea if you don't wanna get stuck with anything or pick up anything that would be too weird to touch bare handed. Thanks to all you guys who do show up for your support. Perhaps it will be an annual event.. who knows. see ya'll there - I'll be wearing a solid yellow sequined jumpsuit with a 10 gallon foam cowboy hat. ( just kidding ) .. Brian .. Just once I wish a trout would wink at me! ozarkflyfisher@gmail.com I'm the guy wearing the same Simms longbilled hat for 10 years now.
Kansas Fly Fisher Posted February 3, 2006 Posted February 3, 2006 I can bring the latex gloves if anyone would like them. Also, are we planning on a "dutch" lunch/snack or are we bring a cover disk like thing? Just let me know. My wife will be joining us for the clean up and some fishing afterwards. Looking forward to putting some faces with the names. John Born to Fish, Forced to Work KSMEDIC.COM
loo10 Posted February 3, 2006 Posted February 3, 2006 I plan to come too. See you at Noon. Rich Looten Springfield, Missouri "If people don't occasionally walk away from you shaking their heads, you're doing something wrong."- John Gierach
tippet7 Posted February 3, 2006 Posted February 3, 2006 see ya'll there - I'll be wearing a solid yellow sequined jumpsuit with a 10 gallon foam cowboy hat. I am looking foward to seeing that. I can make it out for an hour or so, then I have to get back to work. Where is the meeting point going to be? You are so stupid you threw a rock at the ground and missed.
