Tightline Posted July 9, 2007 Posted July 9, 2007 Had a great time at Roaring River thurs, fri and sat.The river looked better than I have seen it for a couple of years.I used my fly rod the most and fished the fly zone because it had more fish and bigger. The first 30 min of each mourning I caught em on black mini wooleys, then later on black and red ants and also beetles. In the afternoons I used white and pink thread jigs without an indicator and did pretty good.Sat mourning after the first 30 min the bite got kinda tough, tried everthing, then I decided to try the only zebra midge I had,bam that done it I caught 8 before one nice one snapped it off, then it was time to go. All in all a great trip except for slipping on one of those big riprap rocks and busting my tailbone.Seen one boy fall in at the first hole in the fly zone, said he decided to take the water instead of the rocks. To bad he had his cell phone in his pocket and also about 4 of his friends were right there to razz him. Tried to fish the C&R area.Seen one guy up there in waders,I thought, awwh I don't need waders, wrong,I wussed out in about 30 min. Some real nice fish in there though. KFF and Rusty, wish I would've known you were there, would have liked to have met you guys. TL
Rusty Posted July 9, 2007 Posted July 9, 2007 That was me in the waders on Friday. As far as I know, I was the only one wading/catching in that section for 3 1/2 hours.
Tightline Posted July 9, 2007 Author Posted July 9, 2007 Rusty, that must have been you I seen,I was wading with my dog up there by the bridge, just kinda scouting, seen some nice ones, tried it for a while later in the afternoon, but the water was just too cold, didn't have my waders.Did you do any good?
Kansas Fly Fisher Posted July 9, 2007 Posted July 9, 2007 Hey Rusty, didn't realize that was you up there. I stopped and consider the wade, but Sue didn't bring her waders and since I was gone all last week, I thought it would be best to stay close. We didn't do any good on Friday but Saturday turned around with several on a black baby bugger and then a zebra midge. John Born to Fish, Forced to Work KSMEDIC.COM
Rusty Posted July 9, 2007 Posted July 9, 2007 You should have tried it. You wouldn't have been disappointed. *G*
