My fishing time has been reduced from once a month to once a year sance the birth of our two and a half year old. Friday evening I got to zone 1 between the two handicap acceses about 6:30. There was a hatch of PEDs so I missed a few with a BWO. I switched to a Green Crackleback and a nice rainbow destroyed it. With the hatch slowing I started drifting nymphs. I went through several and I finally picked up a small rainbow on a #14 Prince. Saturday I fished above and below the first handicap access in zone 1. I spent a total of four hours in this area between family time and totaled two nice rainbows.

So after six hours of fishing I had four trout fishing the stream my way so the tactic for Sunday morning was to get some fish for the freezer. I started above the Whistle Bridge with my ultra-light and a black and yellow jig. Two casts = two fish. Switched to a black and yellow Mepps Rooster Tail. Two casts = two fish. I then went back to the first handicap access in zone 1 for some catch and release and started roll casting a Beadspread on the downsteam side. 30 Minutes equaled 6 fish. All Weavers #1 sugested flies, jigs and lures.

The stream is running normal and kind of dirty. I guess from the moss cutting on Wednesday. There are tons of fish in the stream and with the exception of one ten inch fish the rest were all about fifteen inchers.

Tight lines.

Greg,

Sounds like some nice size on those fish-a lot more fun than those 10 inchers a couple of years ago. I've always had good luck in that stretch below the guage house stripping a Crackleback on a sinking line.

I fished the park on Friday and had similar success. I fished mainly the area between the whistle bridge and the dam. As GregSTC said there are definitely some nicer fish in the stream right now as well as large quantities. Caught lots of fish nymphing with small olive scuds. The water was still full of weeds from the moss cutting and I'm sure lots of scuds and other insects were displaced in the stream. The fish seemed to be feeding throughout the water column fairly randomly. When I tired of catching fish nymphing I tied on a flying ant pattern in size #16 and ended up catching 7 or 8 fish on it before I had to pack it up and head back to KC. I didn't try one but I saw a gentleman doing very well on a stripped crackleback (don't know exactly what color) also. The stream is looking very good right now(except for all of the ugly fish carcasses in the water  ) and fishing equally as well. I would suggest using a maximum of 6x tippet (I was using 7x all day)though as I ran into some other people who were struggling using heavier than that.
