Terry Beeson Posted July 19, 2007 Author Posted July 19, 2007 Yeah, lesson learned... And, yes, welcome to the forum, Tisha... When you learn to use that fly rod, you can give me some lessons... Maybe we can compare notes on stirring things up around here, too... Hey... I WISH I had caught a dink yesterday... And as for the rest of you jokers... oh... wait... can't use those symbols... Here... let me tap it out is Morse code No, Dano... I was not wearing gloves... but I WAS shuffling... WebFreeman Posted July 19, 2007 Posted July 19, 2007 Terry, I thought you were married. Are you allowed to compare dinks? Members Tisha Posted July 19, 2007 Members Posted July 19, 2007 I am a little afraid to ask about the stream hair care products!! I am always open for help on the fly rod. Right now it is just collecting dust because I have no clue but would love to learn. My boyfriend and I are starting to become regulars down there and we are both itching to finally learn. Although, Terry can verify, we didn't completely suck it up with our ultralights either! Look forward to meeting yall down there sometime!
Terry Beeson Posted July 20, 2007 Author Posted July 20, 2007 Tisha, There are a lot of guys and gals around here who will be more than willing to give you and your BF some casting and fishing 101s... Southwest Missouri Fly Fishers meet the second Thursday of the month at the Nature Center in Springfield. Keep an eye out for other opportunities on this forum. Click here for the SMFF website... We'll also get you into fly tying and other fly fishing related "stuff." After you learn some basic fly fishing, we'll initiate you and your BF in the Friday Night Taney Strippers Club... I know you talked about fishing at night... You get into fly fishing and you'll dump those ultralights in the garbage.... (Not that there's anything wrong with spin fishing... kudos to Jerry Seinfeld) Stream hair care products? You been talkin' to John Wilson?... flyfshn Posted July 20, 2007 Posted July 20, 2007 ....some of us wish we lived close enough to the stream to "stop by" and get skunked! Have to admit Terry.....she got you good!! Fish On! Thom Posted July 20, 2007 Posted July 20, 2007 Just when you begin to think that the forum is getting a bit dull. Welcome Tisha and feel free to strike up a conversation with anyone on the stream and ask questions on the forum. One of the best parts of flyfishing is the comraderee of the group that shares information here. There are some real sages on this forum that offer help both on the forum and on the stream. Then there are some wantabee's like me that still enjoy trying to learn and improve. If you really want to learn to flyfish and use the flyrod consider going out with one of the good guides on Taney and let them coach you for a session. It is amazing what you can learn in a short time. I will be taking my grandson to Taney at the end of the month and am considering getting a guide to help him (and me) even though I have been flyfishing for 20+ years. Always something to learn. Just be sure to get a guide that can teach flyfishing and not just getting 4 fish and going home. There are lots of excellent guides here at Taney. Thom Harvengt
BrianK Posted July 20, 2007 Posted July 20, 2007 very interesting........ nice fish.....i noticed no one mentioned anything about holding the fish close to the camera (couldn't resist) or the quality of the pic....hmmmm : ) welcome Tisha. bk
Members Tisha Posted July 20, 2007 Members Posted July 20, 2007 Wow, thanks guys for the all the welcomes. I can't wait to get out there and learn more about fly fishing and meeting some of you guys on the water. Sounds like I came across some great resources here. Once I get better on the flyrod then Friday Night Taney Strippers Club here I come! Thanks for the invite Terry and I will check out that website. Maybe one day I can learn to make your infamous sculpin that the trout go crazy for. Thom, I will also check around for some Taney guides and see what they have to offer and their prices. Thanks for all the information everyone!
Terry Beeson Posted July 20, 2007 Author Posted July 20, 2007 Gotta give credit where credit is due... It's not my sculpin... Leonard showed me that fly... But it IS a killer on Taney for sure... Whomever the fly belongs to... With Tisha and Christina in the Strippers Club, it now has a WHOLE new meaning... I guess we'll have to cut down on the chili dogs before fishing, guys...
